Sandtray Therapy in Plainfield, IN
Telehealth Services available throughout Indiana and Florida

Life is full of experiences, positive and negative. When we talk about those experiences, sometimes we feel overwhelmed, sometimes we are speechless, and other times all we can get out is, "I don't know how I'm feeling." Sandtray Therapy is beneficial in these scenarios because it provides a way to communicate visually about experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
Sandtray Therapy is for children, teens, and adults. It is helpful for a variety of presenting issues, from anxiety and depression to trauma and grief. You can also explore identity, relationships, stress, and life transitions. The symbolic nature of sandtray helps you gain insight that isn't as easily accessed through conversation alone. You are in control and move at the pace that feels safe and comfortable for you.

What's the Sandtray Process Like?
1
You choose if you want to build a non-directive tray or directive tray.
Non-directive = Build a tray about whatever you want
Directive = Build a tray about something specific
(Examples: Build a tray about your world; Build a tray about what your anxiety feels like; Build a tray about your family relationships)
2
You choose various miniatures to use to build your scene in the sandtray. There's no right or wrong way to do this!
Categories of miniatures include:
People, Animals, Vegetation, Transportation, Fences/bridges, Fantasy, Spiritual, Holidays, Nature, Disney characters, TV/movie characters
3
You share your tray with me, explaining the scene from your own perspective. I guide you in processing the tray using phrases like, "I notice", "I wonder", and "tell me more about." I will also check in with you about how your body is feeling during this process. You gain greater insight about your experiences and better understand your emotions.
